The Canadian indie rockers with the wide collection of instruments have netted an equally wide collection of awards, plus heaps of critical praise.
This indie rock band released their first album, Funeral, back in 2004 and have consistently been critically acclaimed and lauded since then. Their 2010 album ‘The Suburbs’ netted them several prestigious prizes, including the 2011 Grammy and Juno awards for Album of the Year, and the 2011 Brit Award for International Album of the Year.
The Montreal-based seven-member group is a family affair: It includes married couple Win Butler and Régine Chassagne and Win’s brother Will Butler. The ensemble are well known for their esoteric style and their crazy collection of instruments, which includes xylophone, glockenspiel, violin, and accordion…to name just a few. They were nominated for the Best Alternative Act EMA in 2010.
In 2011, they were again nominated for Best Alternative as well as for Best World Stage. Arcade Fire's song 'Abraham's Daughter' was featured on the chart-topping soundtrack of this year's blockbuster 'The Hunger Games.'
